2011, a memorable fall, my final retirement ('ceptin for SuperStorm Sandy, which returned me to the workforce).
Retirement, it opens doors; mine being to the world of Renovations. So, interview I did, yes, several contractors, and came to find that ruling the roost was proximity, thoroughness and pricing that was without loopholes.

So, 2011, the kitchen. Several years later, the guest bathroom.
Now, 2019, the master bath, made for one entering her senior years, and living room ceiling lightening and master bedroom adjustments to ensure senior year comfort. Joseph Safdie and crew (always Fredo, and in 2019 Priscilla as well) would cover my needs, not installing that square sink (so hard to keep clean) to yes, installing a practical sink faucet (very easy to keep clean). In 2011, I did listen when Joseph advised about the size of the floor tiles--

He did listen when I called for the limited patterning at the edges. And the year of the guest bathroom, BerceliNJ Design Inc. well-presented me with the black and white bathroom of my dreams. There was the wallpaper, in each of the three rooms. Each with its own story. Each just to perfection. (Hmm, not sure what my mother would have said about wallpaper.) So, I understand, have been told I am particular.

The owner, Joe, was extremely responsive to phone calls, questions and general requests. His construction crew was friendly, competent and always on time. we have received many compliments on the kitchen design and the materials are high quality and beautiful. in fact, we have used BerceliNJ Design Inc. for several of our home upgrades and would happily use him again. He is a bit pricey but we found it worth the price. In the summer of 2012, after a decade of living in my apartment, I decided to renovate my kitchen. I visited BerceliNJ Design Inc. Kitchen and Home Design in Fort Lee and met with the owner, Joseph Safdie. He had done a number of apartments in my complex so he was familiar with the layout and the procedures of dealing with a co-op board. After he came over, I was very impressed with his vision and attention to detail (which rivals my own). Joseph interviewed me, set up a budget, helped me choose materials, made various layouts and modifications and incorporated unique features and design elements (e.g. chiseled stone in the adjacent dining room wall). He walked me through the contract signing (without rushing me), obtained co-op management approval and municipal building department permits, oversaw his workers and kept me updated throughout the process. While I had signed the contract in the beginning of September, demolition began in late October only to be interrupted by a 10 day power outage caused by Superstorm Sandy. Remarkably, his crew were still able to complete the job as scheduled in the contract and within budget. The finished product became the envy of my neighbors (one of whom subsequently hired BerceliNJ to renovate her kitchen). I highly recommend Joseph and his crew.
